After 2011, No Ford Trucks Can Be Smaller Than The F150

More Ford trucks are on the road than nearly each and every other automaker. The most popular full size pickup in North The United States is the F150, and for good reason. Ford has made other models that sold well. The Ford Ranger, shortly to retire, was also a popular model for a while. The only other pickup offered by Ford, the Sport Trac, is ceasing production this year. Only the F series will remain, as Ford is jettisoning as numerous car lines as possible.

Sport Trac getting shuttered

Ford has been retiring models and brands not popular enough to keep. As outlined by the Courier-Journal, the Sport Trac is done as of October 2010. Ford is shutting down the line, as it is just not selling. Due to the lack of more than a small following, the model just isn’t justified to keep producing. Initially offered in 2000, sales held steady for several years at around 60,000, however afterward steadily declined afterward. This hasn’t been a great year for it either. Fewer than 6,000 have been sold so far. Trucks smaller than full size are down as a total market segment, making up only two percent of sales for the entire auto industry. The F150 performs so much better in sales that it would cost more to keep making the Ranger and also the Sport Trac.

Ford washes house

Ford, just like GM, is trimming away the fat. The automobile maker is getting rid of models and brands that aren’t selling. According to Automotive News, Ford is paring its offerings down to no fewer than 30 vehicles. That is a substantial reduction. In 2006, Ford had 97 models on offer. Since then, Jaguar, Volvo, Aston Martin and Land Rover were sold. Mercury is also getting shuttered this year.

Lean, mean car making machine

Ford isn’t really going to waste money on making cars that don’t sell. Ford is also redesigning vehicles to share more parts. Take the Fiesta, which has 10 variations offered worldwide. About 65 percent of the parts of that auto are shared with other cars. Ford is also getting rid of pickup trucks that don’t sell. After 2011, the littlest pickup Ford will offer is the F150, and also the business can be emphasizing the turbo V6.

Ranger Will Cease Production Next Year

No longer Ford Rangers will be produced after 2011, at least in America The light pickup by Ford has barely received more than a little cosmetic upgrade for over a decade. There was a reason for that, as the Ranger was typically the best selling light pickup on the market. There could be no more Rangers following 2011, as Ford has decided to retire the model. Ford will make an effort to steer customers toward the Ecoboost F150 with a V6.

The Ford Ranger was king of the class

Throughout the 1990s, the Ford Ranger was incredibly popular. It was really the best selling light pickup in North America. It was anything a person could want in a compact pickup. The Ranger was priced less than a full size truck and got about 20 miles to the gallon. The Ranger was capable of just about any task on or off road, and it was reliable. That said, the market share went down following awhile. Nissan, Toyota, and other companies figured out that some people wanted crew cab seating in a light truck. The peak came in 1999, according to Wikipedia. That year, Ford sold over 348,000 Rangers. Sales were only 55,000 only 10 years later.

The Ranger is no longer

The clear choice for Ford was either redesign it or make something new. But Ford went with another choice. There is a new Ranger like truck, according to USA Today, that could be sold overseas, but not in America. Ford can be trying to push the turbo V-6 F150 instead. However, the F-150 costs several thousand dollars more than the Ranger. Ford has type of been ignoring the Ranger within the last few years. Most of the sales were from fleet sales.

Facility closing too

In addition to closing the book in the United States of America on a formerly very popular truck, Ford is also shutting down the plant that made it. St. Paul, Minn., will lose the Ford facility that used to make the Ranger. Ford did make an effort to give the truck a facelift. The company tried a crew cab Ranger model, but found it would sell better with a different name. That model is nevertheless getting sold. It’s called the Explorer Sport Trac.

Ford F150 Review and Specs

Often automakers really do hear consumers. In the case of Ford, particularly with its crowd pleasing F-150 pick-up van, Ford not only is listening, but delivering. What am I chatting about? A hot-rod pick-up van, that is what. That is right, Ford is going ahead with plans to market a truly “boss” version of its perennially fastest selling wagon, the F-150, to give many fans just what they have wanted. Read on for a quick preview of Ford’s soon to be released FX2, a dream-come-true for eager Ford lovers.

With gas costs approaching record levels, some are interrogating Ford’s call to release yet another version of its highly well-liked full sized pick-up truck, the F-150. Yet, demand for massive lorries and SUVs continues to remain strong suggesting that size really does matter for many shoppers. True, a smaller truck can be satisfactory for some motorists however most contractors require the massive carrying capacity of the F-150 so the ongoing high demand of these sorts of trucks. And , heavy pick-up truck drivers will tell you that there’s nothing that matches the abundant capacity of an eight foot bed in carrying everything from lumber to yard debris to sport gear and more.

As it is with many truck owners, function is one thing while styling is but another. Base versions of the F-150 are enticing and capable enough, but sport concepts have continued to create so much buzz that Ford is responding to consumer demand by building the FX2. Specifically, the new model is responding to the overpoweringly positive hum an idea version has been receiving at automobile shows everywhere.

So, what separates the FX2 from the average F-150? Plenty, including the following features as shared by Ford in a press release announcing the new model:

— a dark billet grille

–    a sporty, deep front valance

–    clear headlights paired with platinum bezels

–    monochromatic paint scheme that mixes in the bumper, side mirrors, and door handles with the remainder of the truck

— chrome exhaust tip

–    18 inch wheels

–    black captain chairs with red stitching, available in clothe or in leather

— flow-through center console with floor shifter

Engine decisions have not been announced, but Ford has expounded that its favored 5.4L V8 will be offered. The FX2, a 2 wheel drive auto, will complement an existing off road model, the FX4. Ford builds more versions of its full sized pick up van than any other manufacturer in the world.

Yes, the FX2 is another part of Ford’s “Bold Moves” promotional campaign. While the new model is based on an existing truck, it does something that Ford is ultimately learning to do right : hear its consumers. With the 2007 F-150 FX2, it appears that Ford has responded with certainty.

What Makes It a Bestseller Truck

Accept it or not, the F-Series pickup truck of the popular manufacturer Ford is the top selling automobile for the last 30 years and is still is to date.  Even though this distinguished honour is relating to the whole Ford F-Series family ( this means that the Super Duty rigs and chassis taxis are included ), the Ford F-150 pickup generated the biggest number of sales.  This is the reason why some label the F-150 as’America’s truck.’ Just this year 2009, Ford redesigned the Ford F-150 with an effort to maintain this label.

Ford’s common formula for the F-150 truck is often composed from potent hauling and towing capacities, total sturdiness and a spread of trim levels, options and body styles.  Over the latest years, this common formula has been upgraded.  It now has a smooth and quiet ride and it is easy to drive.  If you cannot appreciate the different features of the F-150, then perhaps you don’t really want to possess a pickup truck.  However, the serious competition among the massive pickup trucks class convinced Ford to give the F-150 a fresh look.

Ford made precise key upgrades to the truck that fills up for its inabilities before.  The former four-speeder was now removed and a six-speed automatic took its place.  This gives the truck better low-speed acceleration and a fuel-efficient cruising.  In addition to this, a new Platinum trim level and front-end styling galvanized by the Super Duty are also available.  The Super Crew just got more super thanks to a 6-inch cabin stretch, providing a rear passenger room and flat rear floor.

Other handy features of the Ford F-150 involve steps that ease bed access, a multimedia voice command system powered Sirius Travel Link ( it can also give flick times, sports scores, weather and gas costs ), trailer-brake controller and capless fuel filler.

Now, with the huge range of trim levels, body styles and kit, you will surely find features that will suit your requirements.
