Custom Auto Upholstery – Replacing or Repairing Seats – 3 Reasons to Consider It

All too often, if you get a rip or tear in one of your car seats, the first thing you think to do is either just leave it be or patch it with needle and thread, Elmer’s, or whatever else is handy. That may work in the short run, but you’re definitely not doing yourself or your car any favors. Listed below are a few good reasons you should consider having the seat repaired properly.

1 – Once the rip is there, it’s very likely to get worse. Sometimes just your every day in and out of the car can make it worse. If you just sewed or glued it back together, you’ll find yourself doing that more and more often. You can save yourself those, and all future headaches by just having it fixed right the first time. Besides, multiple “patch and go” fixes may wind up costing you more in time and frustration than the proper fix would have in money.

2 – If you’re a pro, that’s one thing (and you’re likely not reading this article), but if you’re not, then how likely is it that you’ll be able to do as good a job as a custom auto upholstery professional? If you’re going to go to the time and expense of getting it fixed, why not do it the right way from the get go?

3 – Rather than viewing the damage as an obstacle to be overcome or an inconvenience to be endured, why not use it as an opportunity instead? You could genuine increase the value of your vehicle, and not only that, you’ll end up with something that’s better than it was before the damage occurred! In fact, many good custom auto upholstery specialists will have you come back to the shop for a “seat fitting” to test the newly repaired/replaced seats for comfort and to ensure that they’re properly padded. That’s good stuff!

Sometimes, of course, it is necessary to do a quick “patch and go” job on a damaged seat, but whenever possible, you should have the damaged area repaired properly, and by a talented custom auto upholstery specialist, who will ensure that the repairs are complete, and done to the highest possible standard.

This is just one more thing that a qualified auto upholstery specialist can do for you.

Custom Auto Upholstery – Boats Covers? Really?

If you’re one of those people for whom a car is much more than simply a means of conveyance, then you probably have a car cover. But do you give your boat the same consideration? Unlike car covers, which can be ordered for nearly any make and model, boat covers aren’t as easy to find, and if you’re in the market for one, to protect your investment, your custom auto upholstery specialist can help you.

The reasons for considering a custom boat cover are simple enough to understand, and are generally the same basic reasons you bought the cover for your car, namely, to protect it from both the elements and from animals around where you live. It’s amazing how much damage these things, in combination can do to your boat, and how large the cumulative effect can be, but like a car cover, a custom boat cover will only do what it was designed to do if the boat underneath it is clean before the cover is placed over it, and if the cover itself is properly designed to fit over the craft.

If you skimp on the cover, the bottom line is, you are settling for non-optimal protection, and given the cost of the investment, you have to wonder if that’s wise.

For this reason, if you’re going to invest in a boat cover, I’d recommend having one made that’s custom fitted to your particular craft. Fortunately, any auto upholstery specialist worth his salt will also work with boats and other pleasure craft, and can custom make you a cover to your boat’s exact specifications. There will be no doubt of the fit, and when you’re vehicle is not in use, you can rest easy, knowing that you’ve given it the very best protection you can give it.

America grew up with their cars, but these days, auto upholstery isn’t confined to “just” vehicles, but rather, encompasses a staggering variety of vehicles, and a custom boat cover is an extremely efficient, cost effective way of protecting your investment. It’s just one more thing that a skilled custom auto upholstery specialist can do for you!

Custom Auto Upholstery – 5 Reasons Not to Go It Alone

The world of auto enthusiasts is filled with diehard do-it-yourselfers, and that’s usually a good thing, but when it comes to your car’s upholstery, you can often create more problems than you solve by trying to go it alone.  Whether you are motivated by the inspired designs of Chip Foose cars, or a more traditional “classic restoration” vibe runs through your veins, below are five reasons you really ought to consider making use of the services of a competent custom auto upholstery specialist:

1 – Often, there’s more damage than you can see.  What appears at first glance to be a small crack that you think you can easily repair, might instead point to a much larger problem, and you can quickly find yourself in over your head.

2 – You could make matters worse.  What might have only been a 0-0 dollar repair job could quickly escalate if you begin taking things apart and accidentally cause further damage in the process.

3 – Unless you have a lot of resources and experience, it’s unlikely that you’ll come as close as an expert to matching your original material, and if there’s fancy stitching involved (and you own the industrial-strength sewing machine), you can pretty well forget it.

4 – In most cases, a “quick fix” type repair isn’t going to have either the longevity OR the durability of a professionally done fix, and, if you do fix it yourself now, then have to pay to have it done later, you’ve largely wasted the time you initially put into it!

5 – Specialized equipment and contacts!  Even if you can do all the work yourself, and do it well, unless you’re a professional yourself, you’re not going to have the tools to do it as quickly, efficiently, or professionally, and the good thing is, you don’t need to!

The bottom line is this:  There are all sorts of things a good custom auto upholstery can do for you, including saving you lots of time and money!
